About PrivateCSV

PrivateCSV is a small set of free tools for everyday work with CSV, Excel, JSON and XML files, built around one rule: your file stays on your device.

Why it exists

Splitting a CSV file or turning a JSON export into a spreadsheet is a small job. Yet most online converters first upload your file to their server, often behind a size limit, an email form or a sign-up. For a customer list, a payroll export or a bank statement, that is a poor trade. In 2025 the FBI also warned that some free online file converters are used to spread malware and steal the data people upload.

PrivateCSV does these jobs inside your browser instead. The file never has to leave your computer, so there is nothing to intercept, store or leak on our side. See how it works and how to check it.

What we hold ourselves to

  • Files are never uploaded. Every tool runs in your browser, and the site has no upload feature.
  • No account, no email address, no software to install.
  • Correct output first: CSV follows RFC 4180, delimiters are detected, and values are never silently reformatted.
  • Honest limits: every tool page says what the tool cannot do, not only what it can.
  • Verified examples: the input and output examples on each tool page are produced by the same code as the tools, and automated tests check that they stay accurate.

Who runs PrivateCSV

PrivateCSV is run by Mohammad Auad, based in France. Questions, bug reports and feature requests are welcome at contact@privatecsv.com, or through the contact page.

How the site is paid for

The tools are free to use. To cover hosting and development, the site may later show advertising or offer optional paid features, such as processing many files at once. Any such change will be announced in the privacy policy before it happens, and processing will stay on your device either way.
